Waddesdon Manor

Waddesdon Manor is a country chateau in Buckinghamshire built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the late 1800s. The Baron built the Chateau to display his extensive collection of art and to entertain on a grand scale. It was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1957 by its last Rothschild owner, James de Rothschild. It has since been extensively renovated and there are 45 rooms filled with the best French furnishings and art work for visitors to enjoy.
                                                                           
Photography is not allowed inside. Regardless the exterior is the real jewel. The chateau was built on a hilltop with a view of Waddesdon village down below. There are formal gardens with a surrounding 200 acres of parkland. An excellent parterre garden runs along the south terrace complete with fountains and statuary.
